About Us

⛪ Welcome to the SOAS Catholic Society!

The Catholic Society aims to facilitate Catholicism at SOAS and foster dialogue among the wider SOAS community. We engage with other religious and non-religious groups on issues of social justice and humanitarian concerns. The society welcomes all people to both its religious and non-religious events, as we believe God intends for everyone to live and work together for the common good, regardless of creed or way of life.

Our Community and Activities:

We provide a welcoming space for Catholic students and anyone interested in Catholicism. Our core activities encourage spiritual reflection, faith-sharing, and community among students.

We host two regular activities throughout the academic year:

  • Weekly Service: We attend Mass weekly, either on-campus in the multi-faith room or off-campus at our Chaplain’s local church.

  • Chaplaincy Lunch Meetups: These informal gatherings are held on Wednesdays at lunchtime in the SOAS Chaplaincy space. They involve shared lunch, discussion, and prayer.

We also organise occasional socials and collaborate with other societies.. so please become a FREE member to keep-up-to-date with these! ➡️ (Or, if on your phone, ⬇️ )

Our Chaplain & Where We Meet:

The society’s worship is overseen by our chaplain, Father Oscar Ardila. Father Oscar is a Catholic priest who comes from Colombia (more here!)

While we meet on campus in the SOAS Chaplaincy, off-campus Masses can also be attended on most days at Father Oscar’s nearby church: St Charles Borromeo Church 8 Ogle St, London W1W 6HS (about a 10-minute walk): https://maps.app.goo.gl/PGFowaEYP1w5SwEC6.
