About Us
Welcome to the SOAS Politics and United Nations Society! We are the largest political society at SOAS. Our society aims to create an environment where members can become involved through our career events, external visits, social gatherings, or by joining our nationally regarded debate team.
Our events include guest speakers and professionals who provide insight into current affairs and various political careers. Previous guests include United Nations Rapporteur's, ambassadors, human rights lawyers, and journalists. Join us at the end of the year to round up these opportunities with our annual Politics Careers Fair!
The SOAS Model UN debate team is a nationally award-winning team that travels to various competitions representing the university. If you are interested in diplomacy, debate, or just want to join for the socials, you can find us at our training sessions and our open debates which are on rotation bi-weekly! Due to previous successes, we have been able to offer to our most dedicated members international trips to the European Parliament in Strasbourg fully funded !
Don't forget to sign up to SOAS' very own conference, SOASMUN, happening this year 4th-6th of December!
Furthermore, we aim to help students build their CV with our new volunteer events team which helps students find volunteering activities around London as well as organize fundraisers for cause that members find most urgent.
We hold socials weekly! Those include bar nights, pub quizzes, or going to different locations as a group :)
The way that Politics and UN society aim to be a member’s experience is by constantly asking for feedback and listening to all of your ideas and what types of events or socials you want to have!
