About Us
The tradition of African Caribbean Societies (ACS) at UK universities has been a source of home, community and belonging for so many generations. The SOAS ACS aims to be a place that gives voices to black bodies that have been coerced into silence, creating/reclaiming space that has otherwise been denied to us. As well as illuminating the beauty in african heritage, raising self-esteem, dismantling insecurities and instilling pride in people of african and carribean descent. We want ACS to represent a space for us to meet people from similar backgrounds and share culture despite being far from home and family. Our values are rooted in cultural celebration, political thought, activitism as well as social and spiritual wellbeing. This year we hope collaborate and build with organisations and communities that align with our values and objectives to provide the best experience for our members in the SOAS community.
