Gender and the Legacy of the War in Iraq 20 years on

It has now been 20 years since the UK invaded Iraq in the second Gulf War. In the ensuing years, Iraq has experienced political and economic turmoil and volatile security, as well as the flaring of ethnic and sectarian tensions. These have all had particular impact on Iraqi women, such as the horrifying enslavement of Yezidi women by ISIS.
Join us to discuss the current situation of women in Iraq, the initiatives to ameliorate present challenges and the way forward.
Pari Ibrahim - Director, Free Yezidi Foundation
Ruaa Alghannam - Officer, Muthabarun Al-Khair Foundation (Iraq)

Zainab Mehdi - Journalist
Baroness Nicholson of Winterbourne
Prof Lina Khatib - Director of SOAS Middle East Institute (Chair)
Baroness Hodgson of Abinger (Host)

Young Singers Choral Scholarship Programme

Choral Scholarship Programme for a third season, offering a select number of funded places for singers aged 18-25, as part of our commitment to support young aspiring singers. It's a great opportunity to join one of Britain's leading choral groups and one of the most exciting and versatile in London, performing in the capital, around the UK and abroad. This is a particularly exciting time to join the choir as we are celebrating our 50th anniversary this season and have a wide range of concerts and activities planned in London, around the UK and a trip to Paris and will be working with several special guests, including the professional ensemble The Gesualdo Six.

The programme is open to anyone who enjoys singing, whether those studying music, starting their music careers or simply wanting to expand their singing and performance opportunities.
