This opportunity is for all students to come and engage with some critical questions about race and racism, and to become equipped to reflect on how this manifests at SOAS.
Calling all SOAS students!! Members of the Palestinian community in London and fellow SOAS students are running a campaign for someone very close to us who is suffering from severe mental health issues and is in need of urgent care. Mo is currently in occupied Palestine which makes it more difficult to access the care he needs. The financial assistance provided will enable him to access the urgent mental healthcare he needs and is ultimately critical to ensuring this young man has a genuine chance at recovery. We also want to avoid the devastating impacts of Mo potentially being criminalised or abused if care is not immediately sought.
We avoided uploading a picture and adding his personal information due to the social stigma over mental health issues. We also avoided "marketing" the story to capture attention out of respect for him and other people suffering from similar conditions.
Mutual aid is all we have in these difficult times.
We would really appreciate it if you can help in any way you can. You can donate and/or share with family, friends, peers, societies and campaigns. You can find more info on the link below.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to Yara (SU Co-President for Equality & Liberation) at yd8@soas.a.uk for any questions or advice on how to move forward with this campaign.
