Varsity is back in 2018 with a bigger and even better edition of the sporting event of the year. Expect high drama, tense matches and hopefully lots of action as SOAS attempt to take the trophy this year following last year’s closely fought loss in the inaugural Varsity.
Don’t know much about the event? Fancy getting involved? Read on for more info and see Timetable and RESULTS below.
What is Varsity?
A Varsity is a sports match against a University over a number of activities and sports.
Who are we competing against?
SOAS will be competing against local rivals London Met in a number of different sports and activities.
When is Varsity?
The Varsity is taking place between Monday 26th and Wednesday 28th February
Where is Varsity?
We are “away” so most activities will be taking place at London Met’s Holloway Campus or at local sports venues.
How does the Varsity Work?
Both Universities organise a series of sports matches and fun activities that all carry one Varsity point. In order to win the Varsity each University must score more team points than the other.
Who can take part in Varsity?
Any current student or member of staff are eligible for selection for any of the sports and activities. It is all completely FREE and we hope to give everyone involved a FREE Varsity T shirt (We suggest donations to go towards the chosen Varsity charity)
Why should I take part in Varsity?
We are all proud to be from SOAS and this a unique opportunity to use sport and activities to show ourselves united and represent SOAS. We need your support to play, take part and we hope this is a great addition to your experiences as a student AND staff.
Where Can I get more information?
All information can be found on the SOAS SU website or you can visit the Student Union Office for more details.
