SOAS Newroz Celebration

When: Wed 13 March 2019 19:30-22:30
Where: DLT, Main Building

Newroz is the celebration of the Kurdish new year, marking the beginning of spring. Due to the persecutions and oppression suffered by Kurds all over the Middle East, Newroz is mainly associated with the attempts to express and resurrect the Kurdish identity. Over the years, the celebration of the Kurdish new year has become more intense and politicised, as well as an opportunity to support the Kurdish cause. For these reasons, Newroz is considered to be the most important celebrative festival in Kurdish culture.
As the Kurdish society at SOAS, University of London we invite you to celebrate Newroz with us, which has symbolically represented the resistance, revolution and struggle of the Kurdish people throughout history.
Entry is free and everyone is welcome. Please come along with friends and family for a memorable night of govend, live music, food and drink. We hope to see you all there!

Date: Wednesday 13th March 2019
Time: 19:30 – 22:30
Place: SOAS, University of London
Room: DLT (main building)
