SOAS joins Justice For Tube Cleaners
'Tube cleaners keep London moving by cleaning up after five million passengers every day. They are an often invisible, often marginalised group of workers whose labour is essential to the daily functioning of one of the richest cities in the world. The Victorian degree of exploitation they face brings shame to our city. Tube cleaners in the RMT will continue fighting until we win justice.
BRING FLAGS, BANNERS, NOISEMAKERS. LEAFLETS FOR THE PUBLIC WILL BE AVAILABLE.'
SOAS Justice For Workers & SOAS Students' Union are going down to City Hall to protest in solidarity with Tube cleaners who are demanding an end to exploitation and outsourcing on London's transport services.
We demand London Mayor Sadiq Khan listens to and implements his own promise to guarantee a £10 minimum wage on London's transport networks for all transport workers, including cleaners. This demand will only be secured if the TfL's policy of outsourcing more of its staff is reversed. In the spirit of treating all transport workers with equality, we back cleaners demands for travel passes, sick pay, and holiday pay for Tube cleaners.
We have successfully brought SOAS Management to cave and concede to bring all outsourced workers in-house, now we demonstrate in solidarity with RMT Cleaners.
