Peter Baran - SOAS SU General Manager - Leaving Party

After 21 years of making sure the Students' Union stays afloat, of training Union Co-Presidents the Students' Union General Manager is leaving SOAS. He started working in the Union in 1998 and was the first member of Union permenant staff. Since he has been there the SU set up the shop, took over running the bar, now employs over forty people and turns over £1 million a year. In that time he has

• Trained and worked with over 60 sabbatical officers
• Worked with over 400 societies
• Paid students over 10000 society money reclaims, giving back over £3 million to students.
• Sent over 2000 all student e-mails
• Mended and broken into over 3000 lockers
• Had eight days off sick

He is currently sorting out handover with the new team, and preparing for his successor to be able to take over smoothly, but we want to make sure he has an excellent last night at SOAS (in a bar he is a licensee of). So any student, or alumni, who has ever drifted through the SU offices, or had a locker assigned, is welcome to come down to the bar on the 2nd August to celebrate the end of an era
