Hi, My name is Julia. I've studied at SOAS for the past 3 years and what struck me the most is the variety, creativity, and relevance of events hosted in this beautiful university.
As the the President of the West-African Drumming and Dance Society and member of the SOAS Ceilidh Band and Guerilla Choir, I believe that entertainment is key to learning the values of this institution beyond the classroom.
Therefore,
- I will commit to provide a range of social, cultural and musical events in order to uphold the Spirit of SOAS. These will include: live acts, jam nights, DJ sets, performers, various history months, political events, discussions, and screenings...
- As Entertainments Officer, I would love to be an open receiver of ideas and initiatives from students, societies and liberation groups to allow the space and time needed to cater for such events.
- I want to make sure that funds and spaces are distributed and granted according to the needs of the special societies that make SOAS what it is!
