Why Me?
I'm starting at SOAS with an established 3 years as a university congressional representative at the University of Oklahoma. I believe that as institutions of higher education become more and more privatized and costs continue to rise, emphasis is placed on the recruitment of incoming first-year students, and we as postgraduates, are left in the dust and pushed to the back of the theoretical line for administration.
My goal is simple, as your university Postgraduate Taught Officer, I want to voice the concerns that we have to admins and lecturers as well as continue to push for the progress and support for postgrads at SOAS. WIth such an immensely large and diverse student population, representation of each of our individual and unique concerns with respect to our backgrounds is hugely important, and I want to do my part in making sure our needs are addressed.
