Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) is the fastest growing martial art in the world and our sessions can be enjoyed by all, regardless of gender, age or fitness level.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu focuses is a grappling martial art and it promotes the smaller, weaker person efficiently defending themselves successfully against a bigger and stronger assailant by using technique and leverage. Some use these techniques and compete in sport Jiu Jitsu, and others just use the martial art as a form of self-defence, discipline, self-confidence or just simply a fun activity to do. Whether your goal it is to compete at the highest levels of competition or just a cool activity to do on an afternoon as a way to relieve your stress from your degree, the SOAS BJJ society caters to ALL.
