Trattoria Mondello

"This family run Italian has decor straight out of the 1980s, the attitude of the service staff is absolutely atrocious and the desserts come on a trolley.

It's easily my favourite restaurant in Central London.

The food is extremely good quality for the price, the house wine comes in a carafe so you get loads of it and it's honestly family run, something that's increasingly rare in Fitzrovia. Well worth a visit being just 10 minutes walk from SOAS."

Tibits

"A buffet of delicious vegetarian/ vegan food where you help yourself to whatever you like and pay by the weight of your plate. They do take-away and dessert too.
I normally pay about £9.50 but I'm pretty greedy and fill my plate right up."

"*Tip: if you want some of those lovely desserts but also want to save some money, just put it on the same plate as your main meal. The staff won't judge you (probably).
The restaurant decor is gorgeous too, and it's such a relaxed atmosphere - you could stay chatting with a friend all afternoon and no one would mind."

Laoma

'It's a small modern Chinese restaurant near Vernon Square, specialising in Chinese-style roast chicken and slow cooked beef on rice. They offer a 10% student discount on all meals. Not a lot of people know this but they serve Halal chicken and beef. It's owned by a family of 3. The sweet mother and her daughter serve the front of the house, and the father handles the kitchen. The food is absolutely amazing and the service is top notch. It's refreshing to see (in London) shopkeepers that will actually smile and talk to you. I'm told by my friends that you can order anything you like off the menu but you have to ask if they can make it.'
