Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) is the fastest growing martial art in the world and our sessions can be enjoyed by all, regardless of gender, age, fitness level or previous experience.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a grappling martial art and it promotes the smaller, weaker person defending themselves successfully against a bigger and stronger assailant by using technique and leverage. Some use these techniques and compete in sport Jiu Jitsu, while others use the martial art as a form of self-defence, discipline, self-confidence or simply as a fun activity to do. Whether your goal it is to compete at the highest levels of competition or just a cool activity to do on an afternoon as a way to alleviate your stress from your degree, the SOAS BJJ society caters to ALL. We also hold seminars throughout the year with black belts and successful competitors from around the world.
