About Us
The collective is a unique society at SOAS given its agenda.
The plan is simple: to facilitate people to create their own projects (with historicism as a narrative and analytical tool), that culminates into and event usually in the form of public speaking like their own lecture or panel. Ranging from wiki rabbit holes you found interesting to discussing a dissertation idea you intend to see published, anything is welcome.
To that end, the secondary aim is to create a community space made by and for academics of any discipline to share their passions and research with eachother.
But we're not making you do all the work!
Flash Lectures, pub lectures, walking tours, workshops, guest speakers, community mixers and a radio show, are what we've got set already for the 1st semester with a few more things on the way also. The majority of our "top-down" events, are skills orientated to help enhance your time as a researcher here at SOAS and beyond into your future career.

Welfar Statement
Welfare is a central consideration as well as framework for the History Collective. Our more horizontal and participatory structure means leadership is there to serve all members equally - helping identify and platform your skills, interests and concerns.
Don't hesitate to get in touch with our Welfare Officer or other committee members you trust so that we can act quickly and appropriately with any issues you are facing!
