The SOAS Catholic Society hosts your opportunity to end the horrors of Modern Slavery

#StopSlavery

When: Thu 02 October 2014 18:30-22:00
Where: KLT, SOAS Main Building, Thornhaugh Street, Russell Square, London WC1H 0XG

#StopSlavery serves to educate university students about the realties of modern slavery on a large scale, with a particular focus on the little understood areas of modern slavery that are largely inconceivable for the average person living in the UK. This will start with our 2nd of October education and launch event and will continue with similar education events throughout the academic year, which will be used to support students in volunteer projects that they will undertake to assist the work of existing anti slavery organisations. #StopSlavery is a very unique initiative, because it will not only provide anti slavery organisations with volunteers from SOAS, who possess rare cultural and linguistic knowledge, but it will also create a generation of students who are better equipped to deal with modern slavery in their professional lives. This is an initiative that we are also hoping to replicate at other UK universities with a view to making all UK students aware of their potential to help some of society's most marginalised people.
