We are the Maki Munda Indigenous Studies Society at the SOAS Students' Union!
Maki Munda was a freedom fighter active in the Ulgulan, a movement against discrimination against tribal people in Jharkhand, India. Birsa Munda was the proclaimed leader of the movement. Though Maki is lesser-known, we wanted to pay tribute to this prominent female freedom fighter by naming our society after her.
This society is open to ANYONE interested in learning about GLOBAL Indigenous matters.
