Manifesto & Priorities
My name is Hana and I am a Foundation Year student at SOAS. I have put myself forward for Women's Officer because I feel I can contribute to this role and our wider community positively. I am passionate about equality and justice for all and I am looking forward to hearing your views. I am always updated with current world affairs and I notice those that affect our communities the most, particularly family life. As a mother to three children, I am committed to bridging the gap between global current affairs and the reality of our diverse student body, which is at the heart of the SOAS mission.
As Women's Officer, I will have the opportunity to collaborate and form part of a larger network that represents our community. I have had the chance to speak with the student experience team and be shown the safety measures in place on SOAS campus, and I have been inspired to help recreate and extend this feeling of safety for everyone.
I am currently a course rep, which has allowed me to attend meetings and feed student views back directly. My hobbies include baking and I enjoy playing sports. I am a member of the Women's Rugby Society and I encourage all students to take the opportunity of joining a society.
My key aims are:
- Community Safety. Creating a community where students feel represented and celebrated, by increasing weekly social events that focus on reinforcing our shared message of equality.
- An environmentally friendly approach. Advocating for the reduction of single-use plastics within campus cafes and encouraging the correct use of recycling bins.
- Increasing awareness. Spreading awareness on campus through creative fundraising events such as sponsored walks and bake sales.
I hope that we can make the most of our time together at SOAS.
