Student Staff Forum
When: Wed 18 October 2017 16:00-17:30
Where: SOAS Senate House Atrium
We are bringing back the all-staff and all-student forum this year as an open space for discussion and collective thought about the issues facing our community. As many you have seen, within the first weeks of this academic year we are already faced with challenging news about the state of SOAS finances, restructuring of the entire School, and an ever more whimsical government position on the governance of Higher Education.
To discuss all of this, and more, do come along to the Student-Staff Forum on Wednesday 18th October, from 4PM in the Senate House Atrium. If you would like to suggest an agenda item, please e-mail the Students' Union Sabbatical Officers, Nisha Phillipps <np40@soas.ac.uk> and dimitri cautain <dc23@soas.ac.uk>
Some agenda items already include;
- What is restructuring actually about?
- The government fee freeze and the fight for Free Education
- Bringing everyone in-house; where are we at?
There will be roving microphones available for all to participate, at the discretion of the Chairs. We will work do our best to ensure this is an environment open for discussion and sharing each others thoughts and feelings.
Also, we hope that the advanced notice of this Forum means you can shift your workload around and attend. Also, if you feel that workload overload is an issue that needs raising, by all means please suggest it as an agenda item for the Student Staff Forum.
Please invite all your classmates, colleagues and all members of the SOAS community.
See you at the Student Staff Forum!
