Reimagining Activism
Tories. Decoloniality. Austerity. Narratives and counter narratives. Whiteness. Blackness. Parliament. Demonstrations. Occupations. Squats.
Activism can take many different forms, but since the "end of history" narrative was proclaimed in the 1990's the scope of our activism has become limited by not only ideological constraints. But the constrains activists place on themselves. Instead of centering people and grass roots communities, our focus turns to institutions and reform, rather than an outlook to radically transform society politically, economically and socially.
However, the picture isn't completely bleak. Over the past few years, we have seen a resurgance of activism that places people at the centre of it's activism. This panel discussion will be discussing how to reimagine activism in our current political climate with the purpose of placing people at it's centre, rather than our ego's and self-imposed ideological constraints.
