Union Elections: Autumn 2020

This election is for 4 part-time officer roles within the Students' Union, and the Research Students Association Committee.

The polls have closed.

Entertainments Officer

8.1 The Entertainments Officer shall be responsible for planning a calendar of social events after Freshers’ Week and for managing the entertainments budget with the Co-President Activities & Events.

8.2 The Entertainments Officer shall account for all costs incurred and income raised at any event they have organised.

8.3 The Entertainments Officer shall liaise with the General Manager in a timely manner concerning equipment required for events.

8.4 The Entertainments Officer shall attend as many SU events as possible and shall ensure that all events are attended in an orderly and safe manner.

8.5 The Entertainments Officer shall liaise with the Co-President Activities & Events on publicity for social events.

Mature Students Officer

12.1 The Mature Students’ Officer shall represent the interests of mature students to the Union and
the School.


12.2 The Mature Students’ Officer shall liaise with the Mature Students’ Society to run events and
raise awareness of mature students’ issues or establish a Mature Students’ Society if one does not
exist.


12.3 The Mature Students’ Officer shall run campaigns and events appropriate to this constituency.


12.4 The Mature Students’ Officer will work with other liberation officers to ensure their work reflects
the intersectional nature of different students' identities.

Postgraduate Research Officer

14.1 The Postgraduate Research Officer shall represent the interests of postgraduate research
students to the Union and the School.


14.2 Postgraduate Research Officer shall liaise with the Research Students Association to run events
for research students.


14.3 The Postgraduate Research Officer shall run campaigns and events appropriate to this
constituency.

Postgraduate Taught Officer

13.1 The Postgraduate Taught Officer shall represent the interests of Postgraduate Taught Students to the Union and the School.

13.2 The Postgraduate Taught Officer shall liaise with the Postgraduate Society to run events for the Postgraduate students to establish a Postgraduate Students’ Society if one does not exist.

13.3 The Postgraduate Taught Officer shall run campaigns and events appropriate to this constituency

13.4 The Postgraduate Taught Officer shall be responsible for the organisation of the Postgraduate Common Room in conjunction with the Union Executive Committee and the Union General Manager

13.5 The Postgraduate Taught Officer shall ensure that all Union Publicity is displayed prominently in The Postgraduate Common Room and that the Union is promoted to postgraduate Students.

Research Students Association Academic Support Officer

Responsible for encouraging and supporting students to develop their research skills through attending relevant trainings and conferences. Also responsible for allocating annual budget available to support student led conferences.

Responsible for coordinating / supporting campaigns of relevance to the RSA. Also responsible for allocating the annual budget for communications appropriately.

Research Students Association Communications Officer

Responsible for effective and efficient communication both within the RSA, and with the wider student body where required. Also responsible for maintaining an effective and safe online forum and ensuring that web spaces and social media are maintained. Also responsible for allocating the annual budget for communications appropriately.

Responsible for organising events and activities and ensuring an active social scene for PGR students across the academic year. Also responsible for allocating annual budget for events appropriately.

Research Students Association Secretary

Responsible for working closely with the president to ensure the annual planning and daily work of the RSA is supported. Also responsible for taking meeting minutes, drafting agendas, and setting dates for meetings and ensuring the RSA is adequately transparent.

Research Students Association Treasurer

Responsible for the RSA budget for the academic year, including petitioning the S.U / DS for funds, obtaining the best prices for goods we source, and liasing with members to ensure the financial health of the RSA. The Treasurer will be required to keep a running total of the budget, and update the RSA Board on income and expenditure at Board meetings.
