SOAS WaterAid is a student-run society at SOAS stemming from WaterAid, a UK charity that aims to transform lives by improving access to clear water, decent toilets and good hygiene in the world’s poorest communities.
As a Student Division we aim to reproduce the work of our mother organization by fundraising and raising awareness about access to safe water, improved hygiene and sanitation. Together we can help tackle the global water and sanitation crisis.
This academic year, our goal is to carry out two online fundraising events—a charity run and a recipe book—and if classes resume to in-person we plan adding a few additional smaller events as well as collaborations to raise money and awareness about certain hygiene issues such as World Toilet Day, World Water Day and Menstrual Hygiene Day. Additionally, we are planning a “How to Get Into the Charity Sector” panel event, similar to the sold out event we held at SOAS two years ago.
