The SOAS Singapore Society primarily seeks to provide a network and community for both undergraduate and postgraduate Singaporean students at SOAS. That being said, anyone who's interested in Singapore and South East Asia in general - our culture, politics, economics, or (especially) cuisine - is more than welcome to join the society!
We organise welcome events for incoming freshers from Singapore, often starting from late summer up till the start of the academic year. Throughout term time, we also facilitate our members' involvement in other UK-wide sporting and cultural events organised by other universities and societies.
Many of our events are also organised in tandem with the SOAS Malaysian Society. Chief of these is our Chinese New Year dinner, where we observe such classic traditions like lao yusheng and complaining. Also in the works for this year are movie screenings of Singaporean filmmakers such as Roystan Tan and Eric Khoo!
