The Mouth Harp is a small, mouth-resonated instrument that is found in some form all over the world. Resonated inside the human mouth cavity, this ancient instrument is simple in construction but challenging to play. Once mastered, a range of unbelievable effects and nuance are possible. The SOAS Mouth Harp Society offers a space to mouth harpists in London to connect, share, and jam together. We explore topics like body awareness, breath control, overtones, harmonics and phonetics, with a view to developing both rhythmic and melodic techniques on the mouth harp. Open to everyone, including beginners and non-musicians! Also great for developing advanced physical and musical awareness for performers of all kinds.
