The SOAS India Society’s goal is to promote awareness and understanding pertaining to India
through events and discourse of the country’s place in the broader South Asia region and the world.
We aim to foster dialogue regarding its presence at the global high table such as panels on its
internal political dynamics, human rights issues and its diverse religious as well as ethno-linguistic
history. Lectures and events we have organised in the past include Prof. Romila Thapar, Prof. Jairus
Banaji, Anand Teltumbde and Kalpana Kannabiran. We are committed to student activism, both
political and cultural, through which we aim to make positive change.
