You are invited to join the famous SOAS Ceilidh Band (pronounced cay-lee). Our band plays the traditional dance musics of the British Isles and Ireland.
We restore the rhythm to SOAS life. We organise ceilidh dances. We also have a strong activist presence. Our “flashmob guerrilla ceilidh” posse is regularly to be found playing at university occupations and protest marches. And each year we tour overseas, as part of our commitment to “Ceilidh Beyond Borders”.
We invite new members to JOIN THE BAND – fiddles, flutes, guitars, drums, whatever you play. No audition, just turn up. And if you want to learn an instrument, talk to us.
Rehearsals: at SOAS every Thursday evening during term time, from 7.00pm. For a copy of our tunebook, or to join our mailing list, write to email@example.com
In March 2018 we are planning a musical trip to Kurdistan (Iraq / Iran). We shall also be doing return tours to Paris, Istanbul, Venice. Not to mention Cairo on 9-14 November 2017. An amazing year. If you want to join any of these trips, write to firstname.lastname@example.org
By the way, we also like to sing…
