Here are some pictures of what the space is imagined to look like. Please let your opinions be heard because they will be a large part of what will be brought to the architect’s table when finalising the project. Here are some digital pictures made by the lead architect of the project. They are all of the bar but other than the bar the space will have the same dimensions.
Can you spot the difference? The main changes are that the Sodexho Shop will be removed, the bar will wrap around the corner and replacing the sodexho till area and the stairs will change direction. In the JCR the SU shops will be combined and moved to where the co-President’s offices are at the moment. Openning space for more people and a wall for the Permanent Food Co-Op space. The offices will be moved to the offices that are in the hallway leading to the Junior Common Room.
Here is the increase in space can be seen quite well as well as the staircase. If this goes ahead we will lose those encounters on the island midway, should we lobby tomove it but have it turn so we keep it? Comment and we can make it happen!
Some detail on the bar. What do you think about these metal bars and that wooden roof?
The bar will be quite important but perhaps it would be good to have an entire wall as a white-board to have everyone write whatever they like to take that wall on the far-side.
