Environmental campaigning is number four of the Union’s Strategic Priorities:
4) ENVIRONMENT AND ETHICS
We know from the SU Survey that union members are very concerned about environmental issues. The Union has received a Sound Impact Silver award for its lobbying work and its own environmental impact but knows it can do more both within SOAS and outside. The Union also prides itself on its ethical stance, but has little written down about this which can be concretely used in campaigning.

Welcome to Snap it Off, NUS’s campaign to get unnecessary lights that you can’t switch off switched off!
We have all seen it – outside lights on when it is sunny, lights on in locked empty rooms, too many lights. Through this site you can try and do something about it!

NUS created Snap it Off in response to concerns from students about how much energy is being wasted through unnecessary lighting. Not just on campus, but everywhere!
Simply take a photo, send it to us and then check back later to see the status of your photo.
If any of the photos are lights that you are responsible for, please try and fix it! When you have fixed it, click on the photo follow the link to tell us and we will change the status of the photo to Resolved.
You can browse photos from the homepage, or search by keywords (such as ‘Manchester’), category (such as ‘Bars and clubs’) or by photographer. Or use our advanced search if you know what you are looking for!
